About the role
A contract opportunity exists for a Transport Coordinator to work for a 9 month period at Pacific National’s Sydney Freight Terminal. The Transport Coordinator acts as a conduit between our express service customers and our operational and planning teams in the delivery of our express services. The key purpose of the role is to help plan and coordinate our customers express products to connect with our express train services, incorporating fleet allocation and the coordination of our pickup and delivery service.
Key responsibilities include:
Plan incoming Express trains to prioritise loads to meet freight availability and required empty Pacific National units to meet customer requirements.
Plan allocation of Pacific National empty express equipment by type, quantity, customer and services.
Ensure when planning container equipment, there are sufficient skels to meet customer demand including stock take and reconciliation of skel trailers and containers
Communicate with Express Coordinator and Terminal Operators through two-way radios for priority lifts.
Plan and manage up to 6 local Pick Up and Deliver (PUD) drivers through 3 suppliers daily.
Reconcile container hire invoices monthly, future fleet invoices monthly for refrigerated monitoring and local PUD invoices from transport suppliers weekly.
Pricing of all express bookings daily, preparing allocation and drivers excel worksheets daily.
Arrange repair of equipment either on customer premises or in supplier workshops
This role will suit a candidate who has recently completed tertiary studies and/or has worked in customer services, and is keen to build their experience in an operational role. Other skills and attributes required for the role are:
Demonstrated experience working in an autonomous environment
Strong customer orientation and good communication skills
Prior experience with fleet allocation in transport and logistics such as with road transport and Pick Up and Delivery will be highly regarded
Candidates must be able and willing to work both day/afternoon shifts between the hours of 6am to midnight, including some weekend work.
